Vehicle is an L Plate Range Rover Classic with a 3.9 V8 mated to an Auto Box.

The transfer level sort of came off in my hand :)

However I can see through the floor to where the transfer box is, and the lever used to connect, but I can't seem to wiggle the selector on the transfer box into any sort of drive. Not bothered what sort of drive, just want to be able to move it arround without using the Disco3

Still no luck with this, when looking through the hole in the floor, there is the rod, that looks like it rotates a shaft mounted ontop of the transfer case. The little lever on the end of the shaft (attached to the rod) is currently near enough vertical, however with the autobox in drive, I can hear things whiring but no motion. propshafts aren't turning either so it's no a stuffed diff either.

Sorted it came in for a cup of tea, then when I'd finished, went out gave the lever, a light knock with a lump hammer, and it's obviously knocked it into drive. Thanks for the pointer.

Well James did say you could use force. You would be amazed how much is needed to push selctor over detent. A lump hammer sounds about just enough.:D:D
