Hi im a newbie and wanna take my sedimentor off and clean it, what is the full correct proceedure, please dont leave anything out, not sure about fuel pipes etc.. Thank you

Dont you have to remove the fuel pipes to it then?

No no not at all, you take the sedimentor out along with the fuel tank, lines and engine in one piece. You may need a friend.

hold a plastic bag up over the bowl , undo bolt on top, m11?, remove bowl , if yer lucky any spilt fuel will collect in the bag and not your armpit, clean, refit, try to start engine, bleed fuel system , charge battery, try to start engine, repeat last 3 steps

Bolt in the top (it will probably be caked in mud etc) undo it and the bowl will fall off (may need a bit of persuasion) You will then get a load of diesel over you

most likely if you undo pipes it wii cause problems if sedimentor is as they usually are not touched for ten years been steel pipe unions and alimnium sedimentor bolted to steel chassis ,its not needed ,only a cause or will be of air leak ,drain bottom of fuel filter occasionaly to get rid of any water if any

If one REALLY feels the need for a bowl type sedimentor,go to a breakers yard and find a small one on something and put it in the engine bay where it may do some good.Being that you could actually access the damn thing.

Thanks JM.In my old life working on lorries before computer management came in we found sight glass sedimentors a useful way of getting an idea of what was going on in the fuel system without having to commit to hours of labour. Even now on my basic,chinese built tractor the sight glass is a handy tool.SO LONG AS ONE CAN SEE IT ! And as you say, you avoid the corrosion issue ,too.
If one is really posh, a filter factors or marine chandlers will supply them quite cheaply with fittings to match them up to your existing filter head. A small,say 4 inch deep, unit wouldnt be hard to fit in and would do all thats needed.

Im going to take the sedimentor off altogether, can someone tell me exactly what i need to buy, i think you need them barbed fuel hose joiners but not sure, dont wanna get half way through it and realise i havent got the right stuff.
