Security!?

I'm a new owner of a 300tdi and it's my everyday car. I'm in desperate need of some good security as it's going to be parked in a public car park when I'm at work...

Please reply ASAP as I've already had some trouble with some Pikey's chasing me around my town trying to box me in for my Landy after work! I've only been on the road for 4 days too! They noticed it in my work's car park and I have no where else to park it so they're going to know it's there next time I'm working!!

I've already got a Disklok on order and was wondering what else I can do??

Good alarm and imobilser for a start. but a few 'budget' ideas.....

You can fit extra locks like the ones designed to protect van doors being forced - lots of overlanders do this.
I've fitted household mortice door locks to vehicle doors but thats quite an involved job!
If your handy with electrics you can modify the ignition circuit to incorporate a second hidden or key operated switch which cuts the ignition unless you know where it is.
Fit a battery disconect (try a Google search for Dis-carnect - i think!).
I know someone who used to pull/tilt the driver seat all the way forward so it was against the steering wheel and chain and pad lock it there so no one could get in the seat to drive.
Try to park where it can be seen by the general public I.e not at the back of the carpark behind the bushes...
Hide anything inside that looks worth nicking.
Find the run stop solenoid on the diesel pump and disconnect or hide a switch in line to prevent it running.

The best deterent is the disclock fitted with the wheels on full lock.

Next on the list is a clutch claw.

An isolator on the electric circuit is also handy. Fit a key type one protruding from the seat box (make sure you take the key with you when you park it) and lock the battery box lid to stop em gaining access to it from behind. You will need to run a small fused cable to allow power to feed the alarm, immobiliser, courtesy light etc. I prefer to fit my security isolator to the negative cable but it's your choice and many people prefer to isolate the positive.

Relocate the alarm sounder from it's current location to a position further back towards the bulkhead. Don't ask me to explain why but trust me.

If you have some spare wonga get a tracker fitted. Don't fit any tracker stickers to yer landy though. Ya don't want the oiks jamming the signal.

if they are chasing ya round town you need a couple o mates in the back tooled up, break the feckers kneecaps and that should slow em down a bit. oh and call the police next time they are doing it.

Ram the bastids next time they try it. Just slow right down and engage low range. Then shunt the fooker into the nearest parked vehicle, then back into high range andf reverse into the cuunt behind you. an away you go. straight to nearest plod shop. let the little fookers follow you into there if they dare.

if they are following you drive to a supermarket or somwhere where their is hundreds of people so they wont try anything and ring the police...

or if you are a like me and like to fight fire with fire...let them follow you for a bit and pullover somewhere quiet and see if they come over to you and your landy...if they do wait till they are near and jump out with something made of metal thats long enough to hit them from a distance like a golf club...then see how fast the ****ers will start apologising and leave you alone!

And then get shot/stabbed/beaten to ****.

You could try getting a tracker so in the t*%&s take it you get it back. And the cops can get them.

Change your steering wheel for an aftermarket one first. A disclock won't go over the hump on a td5 steering wheel.

GAP Security, a Hornet Cat 1 with immobilizer, £300ish, peace of mind £riceless!

Pepper spray is always a classic, especially if thier stupid enough to stay in thier own car an wind the windows down.

Failing that, get the number plate and anonymously report them as dealing drugs near a school.

Or more immediate shunt em off the road. (Then pepper spray them).
