What security devices did you have fitted AT THE TIME YOUR LANDY WAS STOLEN?

Your spreadsheet is brilliant well done for your effort.

Id like to pick up on the fact one of them says "Disklok Beaten" can you confirm if this was the Disklok was removed successfully or the defender was towed/hiab away?

I agree about the difference between beaten and towed but at the end of the day the vehicle still went AWOL so however you want to class it the vehicle was taken even though it had the disklok

Summit tells me the lock itself wasn't removed from the steering wheel BEFORE the vehicle was taken.

We all know that if they want it enough they'll have it.

@ Ratty....

Of the 39 useful reports we got... 23 didn't bother reporting anything in terms of security at all... so we got to discount them for now.

Of the 16 that did report security, only 4 specified anything over and above standard LR factory security.

Rather than using the poll method, (which wouldn't work on Landywatch as we couldn't get multiple security selections to work), I've just gone though each post myself and re-entered it into a spreadsheet, using an input form.

Going forward on LW, we're going to enter the data ourselves into the spreadsheet based on what people post, so if somebody posts their truck is stolen but says naff all else after that, we'll be chasing them up for more info.

@ Beardy89... apologies... we don't know the Disklok was beaten, as we are not sure if truck was towed/craned..... I'll amend that in the spreadsheet as it is perhaps a bit misleading....

Yeh agree ratty unfortunately another defender gone and as you say if they want it nothing going to stop them.

Its just nice to no that average joe without a HiAb cant help themselves to it, if you've got a disklok fitted.

It's annoying that people couldn't read or be bothered to get back to me after posting the wrong info on the poll cos it's knocke dthe percentage figures right out.

No need to apologies ya done a brilliant job. Just wanted some clarification.

Cheers for your reply!

Lets just hope things start to change and then we wouldn't have to go to these sort of efforts!

Not so, that's like saying, if someone's going to rape/murder you, they'll have you.
You make your precautions and plans, then let the scum take their chances ;)

In respect of devices such as steering locks, there's a thread on this over at Login
notably, the Metro Stoplock Ultima "We defeated the lock in 119 noisy seconds -
but only after some lateral thinking...",
the Disklok: "...it took 117 quiet seconds to defeat ..."
whilst the Cosmic C482 Rotary Lock "...The packaging says it can be
fitted in seconds, but unfortunately it was even quicker to remove...Three seconds"
Sentry Jumbo Lock SCA10 and the Hilka Elephant Lock and Easy Fit Alarm-A-Lock, each took four seconds

A key point here is the degree of noise it might take; many villains might be happy to take longer, but with no noise OR very short, with a loud bang - but probably not so keen on taking longer WITH noise...

It all depends on how near to the house, how loud the background noise is, even whether the house has double glazing...
