Not being 'orrible saint but....

You ain't gonna get too much money for her as spares or repairs, the P38 especially the LTD editions are climbing in value..

Why not keep what looks to be a good vehicle and just Sorn and park her up!

And fix her when you can!!

whether its a few months or a few years from now..

I have a feeling you will regret selling her, i sure would.

Couple of questions Henry, because one should not assume. Are you married, with overheads/wife/ two young children/ bills to be paid regularly/ three vehicles on the road, all costing money?
Could you by selling two vehicles, even if one is for spares/repair bring in some cash and take a strain off the family purse?
Do you genuinely know what it is like to have to sell something you have lavished love and care on?
Just wondering ;)

P.s not forgetting new , full time job

;) It happens. There are few , who could match Ant for love of the brand, but life doesn't always take that type of thing into account

Btw , where did the unusual come into it? I know I'm tired but I have read my post twice and can't find it.

Ah right.
I would love to have a Series on the drive. Any Series would do :D I even thought about it, when I got rid of the convertible. However, sense managed to over-ride desire and the Golden Girl remains an only child.

Ah come on let the heart rule! :D

A nice series would compliment the Golden Girl pretty well i should think ;)

A spares or repair 4.6 P38 is going to raise very little to ease the family finances IMO.
The big drain on family finances is likely to be the L322, never mind the ISO fix baby seats, that is what I would get shot of and replace it with a cheap to run family car or mod the Defender for ISO fix seats.

Thanks for the comments....

The E46 was bought dirt cheap when the P38 went south.

The 110 is to be sold (and is back on ebay) to pay back my Dad who lent us the money for the L322

The L322 stays - there is no argument on that - it is the other halfs car not mine, and we both love it - yes repairs costs are higher on the L322, but are fewer than the P38 - so evens it out

The P38 has to go, I would keep her and selling her to raise funds is not the prime motivator to the sale, she goes for what she goes for I am not expecting a huge amount at all.....

  • Money - Yes I have little money at the moment to keep spending on her, but I would keep her until such time that changes.
  • Time - With a young family I can't be spending the odd day or evening working on the car, there are baths to give, clothes to wash, a home to tidy, bedtimes to do, then taking them back to bed, and again, and again, and again until they finally go to sleep!
  • Space - Where I live is permit parking, we get one permit and we have a single garage (which doesn't fit any of our cars, the only one that fit was the Fiat 500) so the L322 parks at home, and the E46 parks 500yds up the road where the permit area stops. The 110 and the P38 are currently in the work car park but I got a notice a few weeks ago from the head of site telling me to stop using their car park as a storage area!! So again, I would keep her, but I have no place to do so!
  • Work - My job has changed, I am busier now than before. I used to have a very flexible working life, I could just take off and do what I wanted when I wanted as long as the work was done by the deadline, the company didn't give an F where I was or what I was doing - I could be on a beach in the Maldives working or even just sunning myself as long as the work was done by the dead line and I answered my phone when it rang......My new job is nowhere near as flexible, I still get to manage my own work, but i am expected to be in the office during the 'core hours of work' and we have to swipe in and out of the office - this is for H&S apparently - I still reckon it is so they can see where we are and what times we are at work!! so I can't just bugger off for a couple of days to play with the car like I used to, which means car work has to be done at weekends (which I have little time with - see family above) or evenings (which I have little time with - see family above).
So if I had the time, money, space and freedom like I used to I would indeed keep her, believe me I would keep her, but I can't and so she goes.
