I’m getting blue white smoke on start up that clears straight away on my 06td4.I have tried cleaning manifold, swapped hoses no excess oil in them and has the bmw modified breather and it’s serviced every year.Is there anything simple I could check before going down the injector route? Sorry for asking but at the time I wrote this the search facility isn’t working.

Ignore it. It's most likely age related valve seal weepage and of no real concern. Mine does it on the first start of the day, and if the wife starts it, it puffs out a bit of blue too. She's not good at remembering to wait for the glow plug light to extinguish, so cranks it until it fires. This allows the diesel that's injected to wash oil off the valves and be burned when it fires.
The only time you need to worry about smoke, is if it does it at running temperature, if it's clean then, that's all that matters. Imo anyway.

I have ignored it since I bought it 5 years ago:)but it’s been getting worse over the last year :( seems to struggle to rev until it’s cleared then once it has no smoke or running problems. That diesel magic stuff seemed to have helped might have a go with putting 2 stroke in as well

You could try changing the glow plugs, maybe bypass EGR, also make sure if you have a FBH it is working as it should and in a clean condition, maybe do a test and unplug the FBH in the OS rear wheel arch, I am not saying it is the main fault but just worth a check.

The egr is blanked off, what’s an FBH sorry having a blonde moment.
On another note wish I never mentioned it now as today it struggled to start then the engine light came on :(

Everything was in parameters on the live data bar the low pressure pump which was slightly down.Changed the low pressure pump and filter last week and everything is with parameters now but I’m still getting smoke on first start,Had a leak back test done and all 4 injectors where fine. One thing I did notice the other morning it was only 6 degrees out and smoked really bad but today with it been warmer it was just a little and cleared straight away,so I’m going to change the glow plugs and see what happens.Who was the oem supplier off them?and any other hints or tips?
