Shows what you know. On the original web page, they promise to refund 110% of the difference if you find it cheaper. So the op has very astutely made 20 odd quid on the deal.

Well done mate....I hadn't even noticed that.:)

Just read the Price Promise "Small Print".....Items on ebay don't count. There is always a catch!!!!

Thanks anyway Don.

Ive worked on enough cars and landies to find out waxoyl doesnt work on double skinned stuff, dinotrol does though

Just sits on top and doesnt seal so the water just capilaries between the skins and does its damage.
You get the same on car sills where they are waxed on the inside but water gets between the spot welded joint and again capilaries around.
It almost traps water as its not a chemical join.

doesnt dinitrol do the same?
I don't do enough chassis work to know personally, but I know a LR indie down here who has cut into many chassis to repair. He is adamant that if you lift a flake of rust inside the box section on a waxoyled chassis it will be dry underneath, whereas on a chassis that has been filled with dinitrol or used oil it will be wet under the flake!

Do you mean the Dinitrol is still wet, and therefor still active against rust? So is Dinitrol better than waxoil because of this?

That is what ive found. Ive had rusty chassis in that have been badly dinotroled and under the dino the metal is like new even though the unprotected parts have corroded away.

To be honest I have never had the chance to inspect inside a chassis, or any other section that has been cavity waxed. I do know that the external Waxoil I have applied to my cars has done a terrific job of protecting "most" of the areas it has been applied to. However It does dry out in some areas, and flakes off. To combat this I apply a new coat every year. Hence the reason I don't mind laying out 80 odd quid on the gun to apply it.

The gun came yesterday by the way, and I it looks a good piece of kit. Plan to try it out on the Disco at the weekend.

According to my friend, dinitrol or oil has penetrated beneath the flake of rust. if dry rust is left it will attract moisture from the air, especially in damp climates like Kernow or western Scotland.
Personally I don't get waxoyl at all, the stuff is so thick you have to heat it to spray, surely it solidifies instantly on contact with cold metal and doesn't run at all inside the chassis! Also, how the corrosion inhibiters are supposed to work locked up in thick waxy slime is beyond me, they need to contact the rust. Never understand why peeps spray it outside either! I always scrape and paint, followed by a spray of sump oil so the **** doesn't stick, cleans up lovely when I pressure wash. How do peeps do chassis and suspension jobs with everything covered wit sticky gook?

gave it a whirl last night. it works a treat with the dinitrol ML stuff i used last night. very nice misting from the circlular tube end, and nice blast of the stuff out of the nozzle end. very pleased with it.

what are you guys cleaning it with?

Haven't used my gun yet, but would use white spirit to clean it after use.

use white spirit on mine quick blast through each hose after sorts it, blast it into a pot and add it back into the waxoyl tin, finished my chassis inside n out at the rear this afternoon and started to assemble... woo hoo

cheers steve

Are you planning on keeping photos of the rebuild?

i have my site... STEVES SITE

however i am doing a major revamp (that people cant see at mo) moving to frames n trying to improve my web skills

the full rebuild will be documented in boringly detailed detail.... however some people may enjoy

its currently at 20+ pages and will hopefully launch in a month or so..... similar to my 90 build but no comparison as far as detail n standards go
