So,

I've cleaned 'em, sanded 'em, greased the back of 'em with copper grease stuff, but my brakes still insist on screaching like mad ever time I brake. Any ideas how to stop the racket?? Cheers

Front brakes or rear brakes?

If it's the fronts is the anti squeal shim missing from the back of the pad?

Seriously now, it is most likely something loose down there. Check caliper bolts and any other bolts and nuts you can see. I have heard of loose wheel bearings causing squeal. If there are no anti-squeal shims there, you can try cardboard behind the pads.

Err... yeah if you don't mind fires! Tried cardboard once... never again! If you use your brakes in anything other than 'granny mode' you're going to make some serious heat! If there's no squeal shims, either buy some or buy some mintex pads from paddocks with them already attached to the pad ;)

I heard that cleaning yer tyres with old engine oil was good too, as is using petrol in the screen wash bottle, really cleans the grease off yer windas.

Brake fluid is excellent fer getting those stubborn bugs off yer paintwork.

Oh, I've got a great design fer making axle stands outta 2"X1" too if yer interested. :D

PM it to me then please!, im finnishing off a GCSE in engineering so i know about strengths etc ;) and when i get round to using them i will have forgotten who told me!

Jim,

Front brakes. Will check for anything loose tmw, but think wheel bearings are OK as checked them recently... though thinking about it, that's probably why there's a squeaking noise now. Keep trying to get the wife to hang out the door and listen as I brake, but she keeps getting her hair caught in the wheel nuts. She's not happy with all those lumps of hair pulled out her head.
