Hi there, I've been lurking here for a few weeks, I keep meaning to join and introduce myself, but I kept getting distracted by an interesting thread, a link to a good video or especially one of Buster's photo tours.

I've recently bought a 1988 Defender 90 which has had a 200tdi fitted. Bit of a mid-life crisis thing really, but will have its serious uses when the weather turns and a few of us go mild off-roading now and again.

I'm a complete mechanical novice, but fortunately have a friend who is a mechanic, so I've paid him to check it over, do the Things it needed to get it up and running, and am planning on learning on the job, doing bits and pieces myself, hence why all you experts here are so interesting.

Anyway, sorry, that was a bit long-winded. Really just saying "Hi".

I am sure you will be fine under her! It addictive, landy's are a drug. It's your partner that will be annoyed by the other women in your life !!

Thanks guys. Like I say, I cheated at first and got a pro to give her a check-over and fix a few things (like the leaking fuel tank that someone had tried to repair with silicone sealant). But now I'm trying to have a play myself. These forums have already been useful, and am sure they will become invaluable.

As for the Mrs, she's already giving me grief for spending more time on the Landy than on DIY in the house! I'm sure she will get over it. It's not helped by the fact our 2 YO daughter gets to ride up front with me and the Mrs has to sit behind the dog-guard in the back! If anyone knows of a middle seat going cheap let me know, it might save a divorce!

Here she is, if anyone is interested:

She is sweet, mine is the same age but a little worse for wear after a military career. I hope I can change that next summer, lots of time and money should do it !
