Sat nav update from 2004 non touch screen to 2006 touch screen

Hi, looking to update from 04 non touch screen to 06 touchscreen model, just stripped dash out to find connectors are different

Is there a fix for this? Can anyone help?

Was hoping that as you can swap the rear GPS unit to the later DVD unit (plug and play) you would be able to do the same with the head unit, I've seen a couple of 04's with the newer touch screen in?? So was wandering if anyone managed it?

they are on the 04 face lift models, to change it you would have to change EVERYTHING and a complete rewire of the car too.

but its also linked into the ECU aswell, as it gives data from mpg n fuel n all that jazz

im sure i read that the pre face lift is analog and the post facelift of fibre optic?

I may be completely wrong, but iv looked into doing it a few times and not got anywhere..

If it was early 2005 time it may of had the new touchscreen stereo but the non facelift exterior

As far as I know you cant fit a touch screen into an early non touch screen model

think the preface lift was a ford unit and post was land rover?

thats not right lol, but they are diff makes, bmw first then ford..

Luckily I had the HSE spec which let me fit an aftermarket touch screen stereo

yep thats the only way you can change it lol, i wanted to change mine cuz its got a tape deck behind the screen, and the newer ones have cd

Well, you sound like you've done your homework on this topic so if you know anybody who's looking for a brand new touchscreen facia unit, I'm your man!

Can I still change the rear to a DVD unit for the more modern satnav???

yep, thats a good upgrade, get hold of a mk4 unit, much sharper graphics.

also iv just added bluetooth to mine, so my iPhone connects and works through the cars hands free

You should be able to fit the CD version to yours as long as it was a non touchscreen model

Even my non sat nav MID unit had a CD player
As well as the 6 disk changer lol
