There's a campsite in Tilshead that will take you. The Hertford guys came down for a weekend last year and they were fine with a group of 15 muddy landys being towed in and out.;):p

If you ask the guys in the Hertford thread they may remember the name of it. It's situated 100yds from a byway that takes you straight up onto the plains.

Are the plains any good,i can only remember parts as a kid.

yes the plains are good and offer a good variety of mud, water hills etc. If the weather has been good for a couple of weeks though it can be hard to find any mud or water holes.

You need to keep a close eye on your radiator though. Salisbury mud and water blocks yer rad up in no time. Many people on here have suffered problems with this so keep a close eye on the temp gauge.

They are brilliant… you just cant get enough of it..
I'm there almost every weekend.
There's muddy bits where you can have a laugh and see who gets stuck, dry areas for some axle articulation and deep holes where you better have your tow rope ready just in case you get stuck…or you might get water up to your waist!
I don’t know much of the south area of the plains, as we always play on the area between Tilshead, Buldford camp and Everleigh

here's some pics BoB

yes, definately a radiator screen... I'm doing one for mine as I have to wash it everytime I go there...
and the stuff in Salisbury when it dries is like cement..

Went down a month ago; soils very chalky, and well drained; was raining; had been raining for a week, but what were described on the OS as 'fords' were little more than puddles!
Bludy mud they got though is just 'plain' wiered!
Gets where parafin wouldn't, and sets like glue!
Hosed down when I got home, as I normally do, and a quarter of a century of mud-plugging has left me a bit 'anal' in that ritual, yet towed the caravan away a week ago and overheated! At home, after foreward and back-flushing gawd knows how many times the rad, its still clocgged with wiltshire cement! and I've resigned myself to a new set of discs come MOT time as I've given up trying to get it out the vents!
Not like good old Leicestershire clay..... you just dig that off with atrowel and make bricks out of it!
Stuff is MEAN I tell you!
