hello
i own a 2004 freelander 2.0L diesel.
the problem is that it keeps going into safe mode as soon as i accelerate or as soon as i go up a hill.
all solenoids and tubes are new as new turbo.
if i switch car off and on again its runs ok for a bit and all over again.
it brings up P1740 code but everything new so must be faulty code reading
any ideas?

Is the turbo new because of this fault?
I think you need to confirm the actuator is moving in the turbo and holding pressure.

Turbo was worn out so i had to change. Wastegate is good and moving.

The turbo is a variable vane turbo, so doesn't have a wastegate. ;)

Are you sure the intercooler isn't leaking?
I believe you're code is related to a loss of air, basically the MAF is sensing more air flow than the MAP is saying there is. So this suggests you've a boosted air leak somewhere. It's also possible the MAP sensor is blocked.
