Yes, just remember to replace the non latching Switch in the D2 Dash to a Defender Heated Seat Switch which does latch, swap over the face of the switch using the one you have

Thanks for that it will save me having to buy one (if it works ). I ordered the switch yesterday so another job for the weekend !

As I can't get a replacement lens for one of the Safari 5000 lamp, I've got a set of these Hella lamps to fit (after a lick of paint) but as the shell is deeper I've had to make a couple of brackets to move them away from the grill.
What are the regulations on the driving lamp having a parking lamp bulb in, is it OK to leave it or do I just remove the bulb holder ? Many thanks.

Leave, use them in conjunction with the existing side lights if u wish.
Hopefully the lamps won’t vibrate to much on the extension bracket, if so you can or could get adjustable stays to fit on the rear to stop that.
So are they Driving lamps or Spot lamps ? As they have what looks like a clear lens.

Exactly this, if they are fitted we always wire them to sidelights

The nearest I can find to them is the Rallye 4000 'driving' lamp which have a clear lens. The stays I could adapt from the Safari lamps that were fitted as the holes are already the grill for them. These metal Hella lamps weigh a ton in comparison to the Safari's so I might have to reinforce behind the grill if I have to use those stays.
Just a shame I can't find one good s/h lens for the Safari's.

I'll do that. Whoever owned them before just taped the parking/side light wire inside the lamp harness & removed the bulbs.

Hi all, as I'm still waiting for my Puma seat switch to arrive I thought I'd make a start on the wiring mods.
Could some one suggest the best place for the relay please ? (keep it clean ).
Obviously can't just put it under the bonnet so any suggestions would be appreciated, many thanks.
After looking at the old control unit I noticed the box that the wires go to is only pinned to the housing with scrivets so I'll remove it & use the housing to protect the new relay.

At the rear of the inner wing in engine bay perhaps, thats where the relay and its fuse for my discos driving lamps is fitted, been there for the last 24 years with out issues.
Its position is local to the engine bay fusebox to provide the 12v supply to the lamps, and for the relay coil supply from the high beam supply at o/s head lamp, no more than a metre of wire is used so a simples job, as the fitting was done at a main dealer I would expect its an approved position, maybe - maybe no.
Yellow dashes point to the relay + fuse in pic.
