S3 x mil 109 front halfshafts and stub axle

HELP! HELP! HELP! :blabla:

I have some how managed to snap my front half shaft (long one) and bugger the stub axle. :doh:

I have got another shaft and stub axle but when i have tried to refit them the stub axle will not mate with the swivel housing (a gap of about 8mm) the half shaft is the same as the one I snapped but the stub axle is different (old one has flat back the new one a concaved back) is this the problem?
