well actually i still need to bleed the clutch,
but the car still wont drive in any gears.
i drove the other car totally without the clutch for a while,
so even if the clutch is not bled properly, the tranny should still work

Hello all,
I have just replaced the gearbox on my series 3 Land Rover with a second hand unit bought on ebay.
On starting up the Landie after fitting the box it would not engage any gears, trying to get it into reverse made a loud grating, trying to engage other gears would not engage. I tried selecting first gear and starting up, engine ran but there was no stalling or it trying to move. Any ideas anyone ?
Happy Christmas to all, Philip

oh i know what that is.
your clutch shaft has worn or broken as we have had a few in the past that had nothing wrong with the clutch and it was the shaft that had snapped and was only just working when in gear and foot on clutch when turning the engine over but wont engage when running, im sorry its a box out job most likely.
