I've done a bit of googling but can't find anything definitive, so I thought I'd ask here. Would it be legal to fit a Series 2 front rad panel and lights onto an '82 Series III (along with S2 wings)?

As far as I can tell the lights needs to be max 400mm max from the outer edge of the vehicle. Not sure of the S2 measurement but it can't be far off that? Assuming that is ok, are there any other rules/regulations preventing it? Just musing the idea at the moment as I have a Series III but like the classic S2 front end...

Cheers

Was it a change in the UK law though? This is where I'm getting confused, I thought it was simply US law that forced LRs hand, along with the need to give a wider spread of light, which the S2 was famously lacking.

Why on earth would it be illegal? If so there would be no series ones, twos or frog eye sprites on the road.

I believe the change was made for export markets anyway.

Because the rulings don't apply retrospectively to vehicles manufactured like that....

Academic though as you say it was to comply with export markets.... Besides more than a few s3s running around dressed as s2's... Usually with tax free status too ;-)

Personally I'd go the 2a route if I was going to do anything.... BUT I am biased as I've a s2a StaWag lol

Thanks for that everyone.

Mriceman, the 2A is my standby plan lol. Thats a lovely SW you have! As my 109 is a project needing some pretty major work I'm considering everything about it before starting the stripdown (hence my asking if 6 cylinder bulkheads will allow a V8 conversion without needing to be chopped lol)

I guess I'll have to ask my MoT man what his opinion is on the legality of retro fitting S2 lighting. If its a 'No' then its looking like I'll have a V8 conversion with a 2A front :)
