its a wading plug hole ,you have no worries ,you only fit the plug if you go wading

Ahhh thank god for that! I just had this massive trail of oil where ive parked and then looked underneath and boom i saw that! No idea why ive not seen it before. I cam breathe easy! Thanks again James.. you pop up a lot and always helpful!

Feel free to delete now i can drive home.. no stupid questions just blown engines amd all that!

the reason its left out is so timing case doesnt fill with oil from a leak from cam or crank seal, the odd drip is ok ,but if its dripping quite a lot and leaving a puddle it will need changing

Well.. i cursed it! Just pulled up to this..
(Uploading now)

Power steering went on a corner.. thought hmmm really not another thing and bang bobs your auntie this is why.

Literally just picked up a power washer for clearing the oil too!

Fail! Lucky im just about home!

EDIT: fresh water in is just pouring out from behind top pully.. higher water i guess is from fan blowing back. So.. one assumes this is the water pump, is there a seal for this bad boy that goes or am i to get a new pump? Cheers again for help i'll start stripping down this eve

Not really another thing then, the same thing but you know what it is now.

Sadly it's a little more than a missing wading plug.

Indeedly.. please see edit.. im now about to go over my depth a bit.. hehe a water joke.. well well.. grrrr

Have to leave in family car to go pick up the wife.. i have been fighting temp issues so this may make sense. Top of part is dry its just from bottom.. i guess you'd expect that because of gravity but any details help i guess.

Also any tips amd tricks for getting it off and inspection etc all grateful.

Will add everything to my log in due course

Looks like a power steering pipe failed, fairly common, usually the rubber part. They are available, just change it. Unions both ends, and it clips to the chassis on the way round.

Theres a pipe down lower i guess? Top hoses although wet arnt leaking.. added water and it was coming out from inbtween the top pully and the one behind it and it was leaking belt side and probably back side too

Two hoses on power steering. Follow them from the pump to the power steering box.

What do you mean, added water? Added water to what?

Leak is a coolant leak buddy sorry wires crossed.. broken truck and im out doing the shop with the mrs.. normal service will resume.

Basically added water to resovoir and within seconds it all leaks out. Its leaking point is underneath top right pully will snap photo when back

Water pump seal gone. New water pump. they aren't expensive.

Finally about to get infront of it.. but im starving now so looks like a tomorrow job. Hoses feel really oily too (as in baby oil slick feel not a engine oil tacky feel) so hoping thats just the feel of coolant and not something else gone a miss at the same time.

Edit: found a receipt for dec 16 having had the rocker gaaket done.. sooo.. top side oil this may have been it. However.. its still dribbling oil on the floor so its coming from somewhere.

Now with this waterpump failure i'll take the time to learn a bit and strip out the rad and off with inlet and intercooler and clean and degrease what i can while im at it.

EDIT;
Was tired and hungry and now reading back i can say ive messed up real good! Firstly i was putting post about oil in the wrong thread!

Secondly - i lost power steering. To clear that up its cause the coolant sprayed everywhere and the belt must have been slipping on the pully.

Because of image hosting malarky i'm behind so i will update my project thread with whats been going on in both this thread and the other one.

Very thankful for help so far from everyone.
