all i have done is state the fact that i fitted the mentioned gasket to a late SIII a week ago - if you don't belive that then that isnt my issue

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm going to try the fire paste or goop (on well cleaned parts of course) as there don't appear to be any 3 hole gaskets available here. It should work as it appears that there are a lot of 2 1/4s out there that don't have gaskets. I am enjoying the learning curve.....
