S-III petrol exhaust down pipe gasket

Been looking here and at parts catalogues and can't seem to find a part # for the gasket that goes between the bottom of the exhaust manifold and the down pipe. The local parts guy says that they don't have em. Doesn't make sense to me..... All that rattling and farting is irritating. Thinking about making one or gobbing it full of silicone.... any advice (on topic) happily accepted.

Check it out Sean. This is a page from the series III parts catalogue published in June 1988.

I've never seen a 4 stud manifold on a 2 1/4 series III petrol engine, but I've got a feeling that early SII 2 1/4 petrol engines may have had them. Oh ****... I need to get out more:)

I had to renew Gertrude's exhaults manifold last weekend (2.25 Petrol) and I can report that there is NO gasket between the manifold and the down pipe!!! A smear of fire gum and new bolts well tightened and the jobs a good'en!!:clap2: :clap2:

there might not be one on yours, but the exhaust i replaced last week certainly had one - well the remains of one - this was a very late SIII 5MB

maybe LR were bin raiding during it's build

Piccies?

Sorry, I withdrew it because I felt enough people had told you that already, if more politely, wish I hadn't now.
