Hi All,

I have had a good look around on the forums and can't quite seem to find a previous post that is the same as mine. Recently my 06 Freelander with 125k started running really rough on tick over, it picks up fine if you apply revs and drives no problem at all. I took it into my mechanic and he plugged it in and received the error' P1613'. Since this he has spent some time on the car and has replaced/checked the fuel filter, EGR, map sensor, boost sensor and injector leak test...and still no luck.

Any ideas?

Has he looked at the live data for the High pressure fuel rail and low pressure fuel pump?
These are where I'd start. Also put a decent fuel system cleaner additive in with the fuel, oh and only use good quality fuel, no budget or supermarket brands. I had dreadful running recently, which I put down to crap, budget, supermarket fuel. I now use shell and all is well.
I think the injectors get more fussy about what's in the fuel as they age. So using decent fuel seems to make them behave better.

Hi all,

Thanks for your responses, we had many things checked and as we scratched our heads and thought that it was going to cost mega ££££ it started the day after and has ran ok every since.

Two weeks on and is still running ok!

Hi
I can confirm the fuel does make a noticeable difference to my TD4, which prefers BP Ult. Better economy too!
