So I'm a bit stuck, some advice wouldn't go amiss here.

I'm having an issue where when I go over speed bump the front left corner is chassis slamming, something hard is contacting the body work.

So far, I've changed:
Suspension arm
Drop links
Shock absorber
Anti roll bar bushes
Engine steady bushes

I put a new top mount on but it just made the whole thing worse, so swapped the old one back in.
This was before the new suspension arm with balljoints though, so I'm wondering if I've been combo'd by a bad topmount and a balljoint.

Maybe if I now swap the hard topmount back in it'll start behaving itself.

Has anyone else come across this? I've run out of ideas for what's crashing around...

My only other thoughts could be the sidesteps are loose, the battery is loose or the gearbox mount is shot.

Help?

Ok.. i'll have a go - probably with a wrong answer... but..
have you checked the first exhaust mounting rubber - some are softer than they should be.
I know it's probably a stupid guess... but try taking the rubber off and wetting it up with washing up liquid....
(although on this site - people would probably recommend KY Gel or Dur3x Play) - lol

Two things to check. First off make sure the ARB is still central in the mounts. It's kept located by a couple of plastic clamps, each side of the bushes. It's not uncommon for the bar to rust causing the plastic clamps to fall off. This allows the bar to slide sideways and make contact with the bottom of the strut.
Second. I've come across a few Delfi shocks where the piston has come loose on the shaft. This then causes a knocking sound through the body. However the ARB fault is much more common.

Checked the spring, all in one piece and not it!

It's definitely a heavy slam, like the vehicle weight being given time to accelerate in relation to a loose suspension component.

Wonder if the bonnet is out of adjustment and is crashing down as it's something that only moves when the weight of the vehicle is tossed up in the air.

I think I checked the ARB when I swapped the ARB bush... looked intact and centred.

last time I had that was the top nut on the suspension that goes into the engine bay area was undone my son in law had not tightened it up properly after putting all new on also to not that when doing those nuts up always have the front wheels facing forward as if you tighten up without doing this it will pull to the way the wheels are pointing.

Still thinking it might be spring related in that if it isn't being held correctly when you go over a speed bump and the weight of the car suddenly comes off it then the spring is allowed to bounce back. Could it be in the wrong position or upside down or some such. Have you carefully compared the two sides to confirm nothing is different?
A bit of history might help.
Was it like this when you bought the car as if so you might have inherited someone else’s cock-up?
If not has it gradually gotten worse or did it suddenly start doing it?

I've had the knock since I got the car I think, I've had the spring out and it's intact and seated in the right place. Though I don't know if it's possible to fit it upside down? Looked snug at both ends...

It's not the arm from the steering rack catching the inner wing - if you've put the lifting kit on???

No, I don't have the lifting kit on and I did check the wings to make sure it wasn't contacting there out of suspicion!

B34R - while looking on another thread, I came across this little bit of knowledge.
the droplinks are available in two sizes.
it maybe worthwhile checking you have the right ones on your hippo.
Just found out by looking on RimmerBros -
143mm = to VIN YA999999
158mm = VIN 1A000001 on

Sump guard lose? The captive nut which held the fixing bolt in place on mine became lose.

The major problem with those comes when you put mismatched ones on - they wear out ridiculously quickly.
If that was the issue I'd expect it to knock on both sides, the anti roll bar hasn't slipped either.

Currently running without the sump guard and it's still doing it.
