ive just been charged 1.41p by bp for a litre of diesel!!! enough is enough!!! brown is trying to stop me drivin my disco an i refuse to let him win (bit dramatic but still im sure you feel the same) now, ive seen you lads talk about bio diesel and cookin oil, do i need to mod anything on my car to run on these? where do i get it from as i live in the city centre of liverpool and im yet to see it?

Yer gets veg oil from supermarket (or even better cash n carry).
What injun yer got?
Veg is fine in 200 / 300 TDi, 75% in summer, 50% in winter.

I wouldn't put it in a TD5 though - use Bio instead.

Runnin my 300 on 50/50 mix at the moment and no probs to report :D :D

I have chucked in a bottle of injector cleaner that was found hiding in a dark corner of the garage too and the old girl seems to have picked up a bit :D

Cant beat cash n carry oil HEHE ;)

I am no expert but to help please be aware that a high vege oil volume will require pre heaters if you love your landee.
If you put mainly biodeisel in, or all bio deisel which is then called b100,then no preheating is required.
Personally to save money and run smoothly a mix of 75%/25% bio/vege is ideal.
Like the man said change the filters after 3 tankfulls.
Proper well made bio cleans out the tank/pipes/injectors e.t.c.
Beautifull smell too.
I get veggie for 85ppl from bookers c&c and bio from ST Oils £1.00pl mix the 2 and it works out approx 92ppl a great saving for me as i do 80/100 miles per day.
Take care:cool:

please can i have all that good advice In Girl Speak small steps and overlearning .

disco Mk1 and keen to lob some asda veg oil in....... was going to do about 1 part oil to 9 parts diesel ?????

my neighbour used to do this but he has moved so cant ask him anymore; his car smelled delightfully like a hot fresh donut van...hmmmm de icing on a cold winter morning with the aroma of hot do nuts! yum

unless it's frosty you can fill your tank with SVO - if it's frosty weather add a few cupfulls of petrol to helps stop it getting a bit gloopy

it will tickover a bit lumpy for the first minute or so

that simple enough ?

one of my jobs is as a chef in a big restaraunt, we have big industrial fryers that hold over 300 litres between them so atleast once a week they get emptyed and oil taken away, i can have as much of the used oil as i want but could this be used? i was thinking if i put a piece of muslin cloth over the lid of a bucket it would catch all the bits that may be in it from frying chips. or am i barking up the wrong tree?

It's abit more complicated than just filtering it to remove the food scraps. That is the first stage, but then it it needs treating with what is basically caustic soda and methanol.after whichyou are left with Biodiesel. CharlesY has done a guide to making your own BioDiesel. It's a simple enough procedure though the byproducts need careful handling and disposal! but if you want biodiesel for less than 15p per litre then it is well worth doing.

been told by a mate who makes bio but only setup to do enough to do his own (what a tw@t) to get some rape seed oil and mix it 50:50 with diesel and it should be ok? also found a place that does bio for 81p a litre less than a mile away but they only get it once a week and its gone the same day with all the taxis fillin up. breakin my heart as im watchin 300 litres of potential bio go to landfill every week grr

Matt, get your self a 1000litre ibc or two and sell it to someone who can process it?

If I had the space, that's I'd do !! type wvo into ebay

Just a quick note to add about veggie oil......

Watching tonight with Trevor Mcdonald last night and next weeks program will have a feature on rising fuel prices and how you can get around them.

One of the features is putting svo into your diesel.

I am currently running 75:25 mix of diesel to veggie oil in my 300 tdi disco after running my escort van on it. Stopped using it in my van as apparently lucas fuel pumps dont like it. Bosch pumps I have been told can cope.

ktc Veg oil on special offer in bookers cash and carry at mo £17.99 for 20 ltrs or they also do 15 ltrs of Euro shopper oil for £12.99 ;)

Matt. Have a look at that Biodiesel website. Find a local guy making the stuff and do a good deal on supplying him with waste oil. There is a big shortage of waste oil at the mo. I am sure you would end up with a free tank of fuel here and there!

why arent you using a much higher ratio of veg oil like what most other peeps do ?

I've only had my disco for about a Month and I suppose I am a bit unsure on how she would run on a higher ratio. I suppose you could say I was breaking her in gently, but reading other posts on here it seems that I don't need to worry about upping the ratio.
