but if you combine this post to the first post things come together
like I said I read correctly

No you didn't, he was not looking for a problem as you said, he found the perceived problem by accident. The vibrations at 2000-2500 RPM were not mentioned until post #67. Now when are you going to stop all this silliness you obviously have little idea what you are talking about.

Ok, new question!! Any one running the
Ashcroft HD torque converter?

Think a few have mentioned it they are supposed to be very good.. But still find it hard to believe that your torque converter has failed internally bad enough to go out of balance and is still working properly. Have you checked your propshafts for the driving vibration or not? If you still think it's the torque converter PM Bemble for an opinion before you do anything else.

least its bone dry this means the input shaft to the transmission seems to be good normally when this bearing fails it will take out the oil seal
have you checked with a home made stethoscope yet as you mention this rumble is also appear when the engine shuts down

I'll be be doing the pin pointing this afternoon when my son gets back from school. The converter has not failed at this point, just sounds like it is complaining..
This was the idea of asking for pointers.
I have recently been over the mountings and prop shafts after doing a routine check and grease up under the bus. She is in all honesty quite a good solid car underneath. Hence the reason I jumped at the chance to buy it.

Mark if you are convinced it is the torque converter change it. But check everything that costs £30.00 to replace before you spent £500.00. :)

Like I said its a process of eliminating the problem before as you say spending out on something that could just be a £30 bearing or a new converter. I'm not actually going to talk myself into removing the gearbox on a whim!!! Have you seen the size of that barstool under there?? Millennium falcon springs to mind...

On a ramp little problem with the aid of another pair of hands from time to time. On your back in the drive a totally different matter. Have done them, it is doable but not easy. .

an engine crane lifting through the tunnel once the plates removed makes it doable on a driveway

I have a ramp In my garage, I did a Nissan terrano clutch (swearing) last week. That is one reason why I'm not jumping at the chance to do it!!!! Arrrgh...

Running away!!!
