Hi folks
Several years ago I had my (then) Indie replace all the coils & dampers on my RRC. Despite all the components being genuine LR the car leaned slightly to the driver's side once the work was done. Back then I bought four coil spring insolating rings (part # ANR2938) & had them fitted just to the driver's side in the hope that the 10mm of thickness would level the car which it appeared to do so, more or less anyway.
Now the suspension has long since settled down I'm thinking of having the remaining two rings fitted to the passenger side, but browsing the net I am concerned to read that these insolators are only listed for the rear springs of the Classic.

The Idie made no comment back then when I instructed him to carry out the work, but I'm concerned that it may be wrong to have these items fitted to the front. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The coil springs on the classic are side specific IIRC my '91 had a drunken bodylean to the drivers side until i replaced the springs, took me a few minutes of looking before I realised my mistake!

That could of been your issue, mine had the rubber isolators on the front and rear..

Thank you for your reply Henry, but according to the parts book only the LHD & diesel engine versions had 'handed' springs not the RHD V8. The lean on my RR was only slight as opposed to 'drunken' hence my decision to go for rubber rings.
Before proceeding with the plan to fit the N/S coils with insolators I wanted to be sure that front fitment was both acceptable & safe.
I wonder why ANR2938 are only listed for the rear srings & what was their design purpose?

They should be fine for the front and rear springs, their only real purpose in life is to absorb vibration . ;)

My old 88 classic used to lean to one side. Fitted a replacement set of springs from Paddocks, but it still leaned over. Swapped the springs left to right, and still leaned to one side. I never found the cause, so maybe the springs should have been different each side.

Not according to the manuf. W/S manual, unless the car was LHD.
But then it was a LR :D

You been on the bathroom scales lately? :D

Yes, 10.5 stone . . . . . .. but then I'm only 5'7" hence why I have to get inside the engine to fix it !!

Just to bore you all to tears with an outdated thread ;)
Turned out that one of the existing 'vibration absorbing devices' (taking great care to avoid mentioning rubber or rings) was quite badly deteriorated, so I had them both removed. The car doesn't appear to lean any more without them, so I'll live with the slight lean ... which is what I probably should have done in the first place

I don't know what the manufacturing tolerances are but probably that'll do plus a bit. So might be worth swapping left to right. Unless the driver's side is higher as it'll probably flatten as you get in.

Yes I could have them swapped (they are genuine LR components) but for what little variation there is I don't feel it's worth paying for the labour.
Strange thing is measuring 'twix the hub & centre of the wheel arch can produce slightly different readings dependent on where the vehicle is parked, despite the measurements always being taken with the car unoccupied & on level ground o_O
