Hi Folks,

Today I followed the guide on here to free up my stuck diff lock. It worked like a charm! and now it slides in an out like a dream.

I was going to drill the rivets attaching the "rubber gaiter sealing up the top of your lever mechanism" but someone before me has done some work and just cut it. I used the hole they already made to do my work.

I am planning on doing a fair bit of off roading so I would like to replace it properly. I have searched on the internet and on these forums but I cannot find a replacement. Would anybody be able to point in the right direction or give me the name of the part so I can refine my search.

Many thanks in advance.

You need the rubber!

And it needs to be fastened to the top of the gearbox as intended. Trust me I didn't and my box filled up with sand and wet crap. Had to strip it and put it back together. Waiting now for a replacement ring to come so I can go off roading again.

anyone breaking a disco should have one. It is best with. cause dirt and water can get through. I drilled rivets out and put screws back so it is easier for when I change the clutch again. Happy days.

@GreenHornet: I have every intention of replacing it if I can find one. I have spoken to a few people that had similar issues to yourself.

@John FHA: Good idea! I think I will replace the rivets with screws as well. Thanks

@blue beasty: Thank you, I shall PM him and see.
