Hi Guys,

My steering is fairly slow to centre, I'm guessing due to the Insa turbo special tracks an the 2" lift. Had a read around the site using the search and was still left wondering -

Would a replacement part such as TF811 - Discovery 1/RRC steering damper just be a direct replacement for the standard damper? and would it solve the slow return to centre?

Also I read about relocating the damper, what advantages come with relocation?

Im offroading as much as I can so thought it was worth looking into this.

Cheers.

Advantage of relocating the steering damper is it's less likely to be damaged, as it's moved from the track rod to the drag link like on defenders.

Could easily fabricate your own if your handy with that sort of thing;)

The slow self-centering is caused by the 2" lift screwing up the castor angle. To fix it you will need to correct the castor angle with 3 deg radius arms or special bushes.
Of course you'll then get horrible vibration because that screws the propshaft angle, so you'll need a wide angle propshaft.
And so it goes on....
