Hi all,

I have recently bought a soft dash LSE but cannot get it to start, I ha no key fob with it, only keys. When you connect the battery the hazards flash for about 15 secs, then stop for 5 sec (approx.) then flash again for 15 secs. Sometimes they are flashing quicker than normal.

When I try to start it the ignition comes on but you can just hear a relay click in the passenger footwell, the engine doesn't crank?

I have tried unplugging the alarm ECU but the hazards still flash and it still won't start?

Is it possible to by-pass the alarm/immobiliser? It is a 17VT ecu.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

When I had an LSE I think the door lock has a micro switch at the back of it, maybee the cam or wire is broken? This micro switch comunicates with the alarm.
Question does you central locking operate with the key and you may see a flashing red light on the dash?

Does the alarm stop when you relock the car door, if so the micro switch is probably OK. Have you tried the other key?

You should try to get a fob. Land Rover should be able to help? Or chase up the previous owner. Have you got a book showing the reset procedure? These later cars can have the Land Rover alarm or an aftemarket one.

Also try locking the drivers door with the key but hold the key in the lock position for 10 seconds. The indicators will flash if it works. Try the passenger door if the drivers doesn't work as that door should have a micro switch too.
