rrc rear black box wot is it

just been in the back of my rrc softdash on a 94m reg and there is this big black box behind the trim anybody any ideas as to wot on earth it is

its supposed to be a subwoofer for the stereo system but realistically its a waste of valuable apace!!

Its a subwoofer,I took the top half off mine + threw away the speaker and amp.the bottom piece makes a usefull out of site storage tray for tools ect
