right had a problem with my heating last year in other words not working had a look under the bonnet and it appeared that the hoses were make shift ones made up of bits and they weren't connected as the manual says so I bought some original ones and connected them the way the manual says top to bottom and bottom to top but still no heating can anyone help:confused:

I take it you have checked for flow...

Have a friend turn the engine over while a pipe is off and see if you have flow through them (do this with a cold engine btw)

Also it is not unknown for the heater matrix to be clogged up - check for flow through this too....

hi bud thanks for the reply I flushed the system last winter engine and heater matrix but didn't check flow what happens if it's not flowing:confused: engine is not over heating that stays nice and steady

Trying to remember the flow of coolant - from what I have just read in RAVE and also the 87-89 manual I have (which is rather vague on the coolant path) - it seems like this (and I could be wrong)

The coolant leaves the pump
Through Block
Through Heads
Through Intake Manifold
Through External Pipes to Heater
Through Heater
Return to Pump

When Stat Open the flow through block and heads is normal, but is returned to the Rad top hose and out at the bottom back to pump....

So the way I see it - if the stat is removed or stuck open - the coolant flow would favour the rad route rather than the heater route, but you should still get flow through the heater....

It is either blocked or there is an air lock in it....

My knowledge and experiance runs out there - sorry dude!!

no problem I'll take a look tomorrow maybe change the thermostat while I'm there just to be on the safe side anyway also get to make sure tere is one in there
