Hi all

Pretty new to this site and new to owning a RRC.

I am after some advice!!

I have a 1990 RRC V8 3.9 (Was EFi but is now Carb)

I am having problems with a strong smell of fuel coming from the engine after running, and the plugs getting caked up in a black substance.

Problem is i live in Guatemala, Central America and getting parts is difficult to say the least, and getting a mechanic who doesn't see dollar signs when you rock up at his garage is even harder.

What i am trying to do is to get the engine running sweeter, if you know what i mean.

I have been told that the problem is the ignition coil not send enough spark as it were!! but then i have also been told to change the distributor to a better one and also change the leads and sparks plugs.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Mark

Get someone to set the carbs up first before you go spending on silly things. It is obviously over rich, that could cause all your problems. By the way how many threads do you need to put your point over?

look online for a manual for the strombergs and lean em off yourself and balence them if need be.

clarksons range rover did pretty good in south america at Christmas
