As i've now discovered LR have stopped making original hoses for the 1988 3.5 efi.

Thinking (and looking) at it though can anyone tell me if:
1) The 3.5 carb bottom hose is the same as the efi minus the T-pipe to the coolant resevoir?
2) Is there a reason not to take such hose, cut and insert a T-piece?

Without going and buying a load of hoses just wondered if i could shortcut to the answer here!?

Parts i'm looking at are here
3.5 carb (https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/samco-hose-kit-range-rover-v8-petrol-coolant-2-tcs-392-c) the bottom bendy one
3.5 efi https://thmotorsports.com/3278542-uro-land-rover-ntc-5632-hose

basically fabricating the bottom one from the top one and a t-piece.

I think i'm asking is NTC 1174 the same shape as NTC 5632 with a T-Piece added?

Thanks!

i'm not actually wedded to having silicone, but just found those as being maybe the right shape. i'd need my brave pills to start hacking up a 90 quid bit of pipe...

Yes, it's a bit odd the thinking here - you are spot on. I've got the aftermarket one mixed with an alu radiator, but it's not a great fit (it's ok, but hells own job to get on and had to trim the end as it was just too long - aftermarket rad is slightly thicker) and i cannot get it to stop leaking - every so slightly, but every couple of weeks a top up. I think it's the ends just aren't quite as shaped as the original.

My plan is to either get a an original (which doesn't exist) or take the carb original version and add a t-piece with gates powergrips on the joints - either in rubber or silicone. So effectively i'm going to massively overengineer a solution. I know, i know...BP isn't that bad, i should be tightening my clamps ever couple of weeks, but i do like to build a better mousetrap!

Forget any fancy clamps. On another forum someone had a major issue getting hoses to seal using the type with a bolt to tighten. Looked great, but leaked badly.

Use proper good quality jubilee clips (not cheap copies). I use stainless steel ones.

I had kenlowes on mine for some years and the best way to get the top hose to seal where the sensor goes into the top of the radiator was to use two jubilees side by side with the screw bits at 180 degrees to each other.
Might work for you.
