Hei all,
Just got a RRC with a Nissan SD33T in it and want to stick in the V8 ZF Auto box that I have......but before I start to undo has anyone done this and have any pointers for me............
Not one of the usual questions I suppose..!!

Looks like a LT95, the reverse is up and to the left. Really want to know if there is enough room for the torque converter.

mistake...dont do it...

the sd33 is low revving, all the gearchanges will be wrong...bad idea unless you get zf revalved to suit the sd33..

i have an sd33t powered rrc..

do do add lpg injection to the sd33t..it loves it....intercool it too..mine runs 2 bar boost no probs..loves high gearing..ie i have sd33t with lt77 and 1:1 ratio lt230..gives 33mph per 1000rpm pulls it to red line in top(almost)....lovely old fashioned strong engine...just no power over 3500rpm...

Thanks Zen, I stay in Norway these days and with 50 mph the speed limit and combined with hills, hills and more hills the low gearing is fine..!!! Different story if going to europe though. It's got an intercooler and I'm very impressed with the performance but my wife would like another automatic and I have access to a ZF from an 86 model. I'll have to start looking up the gearing ratios if no one else has gone this route. Not a great believer in doing things twice although that's what normally happens...!!! Who did your lpg injection ? that's a thing I haven't thought about.
Regards
Fergus

me..though bought most of the kit from tinley..(its basically single point lpg system, but with no mixer ring just a small pipe that feeds into manifold and a vaporiser designed for boost...it has throttle and clutch trigger and 2 stage injection though..)

the sd33 really ain't suited to the zf box...keep her manual..or get the zf modded so that it will change up nice and early...the sd33t is all about low down torque.(put her in 5th on tick over doing 25mph..or floor it in 2nd and hear the lt77 gearbox try to split its case...)it just dont rev..(not that it needs to....i recon mine (2 bar boost, lpg, big exhaust, cosworth intercooler and NO nasty restrictive 90 bend out of turbo)is quicker than any of the 3.9 v8's i have had..

manual...needs to be manual...(maybe a disco tdi auto box?)

oh is yours a "proper" sd33t or sd33 na (vacum operated injection pump) with turbo bolted on??

She has SD33 stamped on the rocker cover and the fuel cut off switch is certainly vacuum controlled, looks like the pump may be as well. Apparently the conversion was done in England circa. 1993 but I've only had her for a few days. Plan to replace the 2" exhaust with a 3" one that came with the car next summer so was thinking to do everything at once. Very impressed with the engine though, shame I bought her for my wife..!!!!

Here is the pic of the fuel cut off setup. It is in the off mode now but when the engine is on and the vacuum made the lever pulls back to the on position. No other position that I can see, just off and on. The green/yellow wire is a temp setup to fix a broken wire and most probably the cause of why the engine would not start.
I would much rather an old fashioned cable setup, so perhaps for the future.

regarding your pm...european sd33's are 24v..

different injection pump to mine...looks like a generator one,but could well be wrong..need a better picture..

Hope my injection pump is standard !!! The turbo is missing a vacuum line it looks like, further investigation required. The pic is also of the electric vacuum pump so an ordinary alternator can be used, one without the vacuum pump plumbed into the engine. The starter works well so I think the previous work done when the alternator was switched to a 24V one was the garages mistake, strange but that's life.
