RR p38A-94 flickering head lights/electrical problems

I wonder if someone can help me with my P38A. It suddenly started to flicker sporadeously lights and markers, whipers windows etc stopped to work. First it gave alternator message but now this message is gone. (alternator gives 13,7 V) thanks

when i got mine it did that 97 p38 4.0 . fitted a new alternator all was fine then. if you can try a new one or good secondhand one to see if it cures it to.

13.7v sounds low to me I would expect 14v+ from the alternator after a few minutes if the battery is good. I reckon the alternator is stuffed, more specifically either the brushes or the regulator Or it could be a bad earth from the engine to the chassis.

check earths and other contact points, especially the battery leads alternator wires etc. if not that then replace alternator!

Try changing bushes in alteranator. If you can strip it and true up brass contact bushing on commutator before fitting new brushes. They will last longer if you do that. Alternator should show 14 Volts+ with all lights on.

Thanks for the info, I ordered a new alternator today, but I tried to charge the battery full and still with a full battery the same problem existed. even electrical falut - message appeared briefly (+alternator fault message too)
the car starts ok and radio + fan i working ok all the time...
