With a budget of 3 grand, which would be the best range rover diesel to go for?

2.5... 3.0... 3.6...?

2.5 p38 would get my money.. ;)

3.0 l322 i'd avoid like the plague at your budget

3.6 TDV8 you'd get a crash damaged TDV8 for that, not sure there'd be much left ;)

There's plenty.
Before my P38 I looked at several DS 2's. Not one would have gone through an MOT without a welding rod.
If looking at Diesel P38'S, spend an extra five minutes and try and get a manual box. I gather auto's on 2.5's just eat gearboxes

Our D2 just past its mot solid chassis slight rust in the rear quarter but not serious to need welding, there are some about. Iv x2 people interested but a week before Xmas is not the best time to be selling I'm in no rush when/if it snows I'll get akot more for it. Keep a looking

Un chipped the gearbox is fine, if you want to chip the beast, a swap to the HP24 box handles the extra power with ease. As for the manual, it's OK if you have a hydraulic left leg.

??? Don't know why you say that, there must have been something wrong with the operating system on the one you drove or time had taken it's toll on your pins.:p:D My 10 year old grandson manages to drive mine on the farm without a problem.

Too many years driving auto's has weakened my left leg maybe:rolleyes: In today's traffic, manual is hard work.

there's a tdv8 on feebay for 2500 with a blown turbo on one side but it could also be engine damaged as well

a classic if ya look hard 300tdi they are out there

I'm not in the trade, but suspect buying any decent Classic today for £3k is a pipe dream, unless the vendor is desperate to sell & the buyer has no idea what he/she is looking at o_O
