has anyone done a complete flush and used a HOAT coolant in a RRC v8 ? my jeep has HOAT and you can pretty much forget about it for several years.

I find it disappointing that none of the replies the OP has received cover the subject about which he posted :(
I have never yet used OAT in any of my motors, but do believe that you shouldn't mix the stuff with regular AF. My only concern about using an AF that 'lasts for years' would be that it's important to change a RV8's coolant every two years, so should the OAT be more expensive it would be a waste of money.
nb: no J..p's mentioned in this post

Yes, at times this forum can be disappointing, but mentioning the unmentionable is as acceptable as a fart in a space suit IMOHO.Thank you ,your P.S.;) was noted.;):D

Posted on the other thread....

I've read on several fora that OAT can cause leaks and corrode some gasket materials and silicone in older engines; on the other hand OAT corrosion inhibitors are said to provide excellent long-term protection for aluminium and cast iron; but OAT may not be the best choice for older cooling systems that have copper/brass radiators and heater cores!

The main problem appears to be mixing traditional blue/green glycol with the newer pink OAT. Th glycol doesn't mix well with the pink oat stuff and it can form a jelly which can clog the cooling system, thermostat etc. If switching from blue to pink the cooling system and heater matrix must be completely flushed through to remove all the blue/green glycol.

I have a 3.5 efi ex Disco1 transplanted into a 90. I queried the use of pink OAT during the conversion but was told since the engine had been flushed and the rad and cooling system was new it would be fine and 'better' than the blue/green. So far ~1000 miles since the conversion I've not had any issues (?? apart from minor seepage from a core plug, but I don't know if that is a new thing, but the stain is pink!) or noticed any jelly but I'm not convinced it's correct for an older V8..

Further research needed but I'll probably empty, flush and replace with the old blue glycol in the spring.

I thought this was a Range Rover forum ?
You are allowed to have driven other makes of vehicle right ??

Anyway back to the Range Rover coolant I guess the issue is completely flushing out the old coolant. HOAT is hybrid technology coolant and the best there is and differs from OAT. I’ve heard mixing causes old style coolant to turn into a jelly which would be very bad news. On second thoughts I think a change to a long life coolant would only be viable if a complete flush is possible no residue left in the Rad, heater matrix etc I reckon unless the system components were changed to new it might cause issues. HOAT or OAT technology wouldn’t have been available back then I guess but it would be nice to have a the protection HOAT offers.
Any opinions on Prestone coolant? Can go in any engine and mix with any coolant apparently.
