I had a look today for the socket for the EAS cable on my '93 Classic and couldn't find what I was expecting. The only one I could find (under the back of the drivers seat) is in the pic below, apologies for bad pic, but its not an easy place to get into

Is this for something else or has my EAS socket been replaced with this for some reason?
I'm going to have another rummage tomorrow but this was the only connector I could find today ...

The bit under the drivers seat is a manual lock switch that locks the suspension in any given position, used for if you are working under the car, etc - prevents it self levelling and lowering itself on you. Although I'd still use axle stands.

Anyway, that's what that is but I have no idea where the EAS socket is - anyone else know?

Aaah cool, nice one.

Can you get a lead and software to reset the EAS like on a P38? Obviously with no message centre on the dash you cannot really tell if there is a hard or soft fault. Is there a system of wanring lights at all?

yes you can..the plug in question will have a matching socket plugged ointo it with 1 wire used..you unplug these and plug your cable in.

When I made my cable a couple of years ago I tried all over for the 5 way TTS connector, - RS components, various auto electrical (including a real old fashioned Lucas disrtributor who had stocks of stuff for 50 year old models) and motor factors, all over the net etc; with no luck.

In the end I just used some soft plastic tubing that slipped 'tightishly' over the pins in the plug to hold the stripped ends of the cable onto the pins. I refined it a bit by tinning the wire with solder and bending them back over the tube to hold them in place. Not ideal but it works fine.
