Hi Chaps
I've got to leave the 2001 2.5DT at Gatwick for a week shortly and have concerns of it starting when returning. Recently had problems with battery running low and knocking out BeCM/ECU. Had a security Re-Learn and fitted a new YWY500170 Receiver to rectify. The battery seems ok and holds a good charge under a drop test. I'm hoping that the new RF has sorted the problem but i don't want the scenario of sitting at a Gatwick car park at Two in the morning needing another Re-Learn.
Do the computors get knocked out of synch every time the batt run's low or can you get away with a just a jumpstart sometimes.

you need the eka code and a sheet with the sequence of entering if your not familiar. get some jump leads and maybe one of them booster packs will hold enough charge to last a week!

Cheers for that GavB
Bit of a layman on this, so if you use the EKA code via the drivers door then that will get the BeCM communicating with the ECU again???
I possess a quality power pack so no problems in that respect.

if the battery goes dead the eka code is needed to get past the cars security system and return to normal operating mode, see here. the becm and ecu should not need a re sync during this process!

after all is said and done i would invest in one of those solar panels, and be ready with the eka code just in case!

Thanks for the replies. I think for the sake of 40 quid a solar panel charger will be a wise investment for the peace of mind.

Does the sloar panel charger work in the cig lighter if the keys not turned one notch as it has to be for the socket to work.

dont get the 1.5w solar charger its not strong enough to keep the battery fully charged ... I have seen more life in a tramps vest ...than there was in my battery after a week ....thats with the 1.5w solar charger on it !!!

No,

all you have to do is run a wire from the battery to cig lighter with a in line fuse holder, this is what i did so i can leave the solar pannel on the rear parcel shelf and plug into cig lighter
