Hi !
i have a 1996 range rover 2.5 td there is a loud rattling noise coming from front of engine somewhere ( the belt area ) and belt is stopping when turning wheel or revving, the tensioner seems ok , thought it was the power steering pump as the steering was almost inoperable, changed the power steering pump ,still the same problem, the battery is now flat and the display is showing alternator fault was running for a while (the noise isnt so bad when idling and the belt does not stop) and didnt seem to help the battery at all! with the belt off, idler pulley seems fine, tensioner pelley seems fine, alternator is not making any noises when spinning the pulley thats as far as i got as it started ****ing rain!
any help greatly appreciated!
