i emailed my insurance co. Swift and they said if the synergy 2 improves performance they will not cover me.insurance runs for another 10 months not sure what to do now ? any thoughts.

If you asked them, then they know. If you have an accident then they will use any excuse not to cover you. Watch out, if you ask the question it goes on record. (unless of course, you used a false name, moustache and comedy glasses!)

just been on tesco compare.com for insurance quote.all 28 insurance companys would not quote for car is this synergy 2 that much of a problem????

Buy yourself a copy of Landrover Owner magazine, there are insurance companies in there (Adrian Flux etc) who claim to cover all sorts of modified Landrovers.

Dean14 made the following quote regarding insurance:

Insurance was due for renewal on the 25th August and 3 yr warranty expires on the 25th September so ideal time for me to enquire about insurance and fit device if I wanted it. Present insurer, Tesco, wanted an extra £60 on my premium AND would shove the excess to £500 instead of the present £200. I shopped around and got the the same cover as I have now (i.e. with £200 excess) for the same as Tesco was going to charge me without the modification. This was through Autotrader. They are aware of the modification and are OK with it. So I fitted the Synergy. QED

MAF sensor measures air flow into the engine, and after an unspecified period of time the performance of this sensor can drop off, cease or explode causing a bloody awful and somewhat dangerous deadspot on your low end power. The synergy 2 MAF compensation allows for this and gives you settings to adjust for different states of sensor. However what you really need is a new MAF 'cause it is just papering cracks really.

Hi Billy-g, thanks for the info. I have a 06 TD4 freelander which i bought from new, it runs like a dream so don't know whether to purchase a synergy 2 or not. I tow a large caravan and notice on hills it could do with a bit of help, other than that it's perfect.

I've had one of these fitted for a while now, the benefits are many with as far as I can tell no downside in the time I have had mine, the adjustments actually do make noticeable differences to the characteristics of the engine. I have had 2 MOT's with it fitted and it didn't have any negative effects on the emissions test. I would highly recommend it.
