Rough price guide, how much to ask?

Hi all, due to circumstances beyond my control, I may have to get rid of my Disco TD5 and hoped people could give me a realistic idea of an asking price.

It is a 2000 reg 7 seater with around 120000 on the clock. In pretty good condition but with a few scratches and scrapes.

I paid around £5500 for it a year ago but realise that it will be worth less now. It has had new rear airshocks, re-conditioned starter motor and has a (rather tatty) half roof rack.

Anyone got any sensible suggestions about what I could potentially get for it?

Ok an XS is upper mid level spec, so should still be about the £3500 mark. The only ones that go for bigger money are ES's, low mileage and fLRsh

You will see garages trying to sell them for a lot more, but that is in part to allow for attractive trade-ins plus guarantees and discounts. So a private seller is unlikely to be able to achieve anywhere near the same prices, imo.

Just as an example I bought my current TD5 auto - a 1999 with 110,000mls and fsh - for £2,000 last feb, from a private seller.
 
I just sold my 2001 TD5 GS for £5,400. It had 130k on the clock, 1 owner, service history up to 129k, never off roaded. In good condition with no marks on the bodywork or inside. Realistically I thought it was worth £5k at a push, its surprising how much a bit of bad weather helps. Never advertised it, just put the word about and it went. For your 2000 Disco you should get close on £5k, wait until the summer and it's worth a lot less. Good luck ;)

Er not really. Time after time I've seen D2's going for prices on Ebay that I consider to be completely daft high - only to see them relisted again a week or so later, the buyer craps out!!
 
Have a look on the auto trader site.Td5's still holding very well on price,also not many private discos for sale. Traders still ask a lot for even very high milers.I reckon you could get near what you paid !!

That's true of course but even so you can actually see that it's happened. Whereas you never actually know what the ones from Autotrader have fetched - or even if they ever sold.
 
Consider placing it on Ebay with a price you are happy with ( IE What you paid) or nearest offer. You have the option of taking or refusing the offers that come in but someone may buy it now on the top price. Good luck. Its a stressfull business selling motors. I sold my Dodge 50 camper on Ebay, buyer was happy, took it away then decided that he wasnt happy about this that and the next thing. I gave hime a bit of a refund to get the twXat off my back. It was 20 odd years old, I think he thought he buying a new one. Tube.
