Newbie here looking all over for a preferably new Rotary Coupler for a 92 Classic. Just cant find one anywhere and its mentioned many times to avoid second hand as its a high wear part & many from scrapped Classics dont work anyway. Can anyone help ?
 
New they are about £180 up to £300 i think, i went for a used one and payed £25 , is it really worth paying the extra for a new one? There always seems to be alot on ebay

The original part number says superceded by this one....but it mention P38, Disco 1 and Disco 2

The Disco 1 was out at the same time as the 92 classic, and are fairly similar....so this *may* be the one!!

I dont think the disco one had a rotary coupler until 94 as the 200 shape didnt have any buttons/airbag on steering wheel, from what i have looked at the RRC has a different rotary coupler to the disco 1,2 and p38

They are only £25.00 anyway. The rest is for the box with the Landrover logo on it. Not sold separately though unfortunately. :D:D:D

Fair game.....thought as much - biut that is all i could find when searching for part number AMR3547, AMR4726 or AMR5631
 
So many replies already. thanks everyone. Ive found 2nd hand one on ebay pretty cheap so will give it a try. Loads of new & second hand YRC100350 but doesnt fit hard dash Classic. I believe the part no is PRC8746. Thought I had one from britishparts.com in Texas who list them & managed to order & pay online. £110 delivered. Got an email from them this evening - sorry we dont have these anymore & dont plan on restocking, we have issued you a refund :mad:

Make sure you follow the instructions when refitting it. Steering wheel straight ahead cassette centralised Etc.

Not true I have a disco 2 one fitted to my 93 classic. I also have a spare RRC one in the garage, you can have it for £25 plus postage.
Where are you about?

And you will have to put it on diagnostics to clear the SRS lights, I had to anyway.

Fairplay, so the rrc has its own coupler but can fit a different one or are they all the same? and regarding diagnostics , no one could find anything , maybe try a land rover garage?

The rotary coupler looks the same but the D2 one has more wires on it for radio and cruise etc.

I had to get mine put on a specialist LR diagnostic to reset the lights. My lights came on after I had the steering wheel off when I had the dash out and when I built it all back up the SRS lights were on so I thought I had knackered the rotary coupler. So I put a new one on and the light stayed on until I got it reset.

More than likely because you either had the battery connected when you unplugged SRS or connected it at some stage with them not plugged in.

I might be giving you duff info. Just re-read all the posts and notice you've got a hard dash, mine is an early soft dash. So they may be different. The one I've got is part number AMR3647.
I stay in Falkirk so if your ever in the area you could come and have a look or I could email a picture to you.
I do know that GEMM in Larbert does have a few RRC hard dash's in breaking so you could give them a call.

Wammers I think your right as I did move the car without the dash refitted.
 
I think I am right in saying the one that seems to be easy to get hold of ( Disco 1, P38 etc ) has the extra yellow wires for the airbag where as the one I am looking for is just a cassette with no wires at all.

The actual plastic body looks similar but the one I have has got the SRS wires and the horn connections also is wires. So it looks like the early ones are different . Don't know if it would be possible to modify a later one to fit?
 
Well I got a second hand one, tested it & works fine, used Rave to go through all the tests on the Cruise Control. Thought I had found it when the diaphram inflated instead of contracted, swapped the hose to the other fitting on the pump, now all works fine with all tests but still no Cruise. So before looking to replace the ECU, the weird thing is my cars engine will start in Drive so knowing thinking about this, if the start/inhibitor switch is faulty and the car starts in gear then the car always thinks its in neutral and the cruise wont activate.

So me thinks find the neutral lock out relay and bypass this so the ECU thinks its in Drive or cut the wire from the ECU to the relay. Trouble is the same wire is used for the brakes to deactivate so in effect the cruise could only be turned off with the switches - not ideal.

If I could only find this relay I could bypass it more sensibly but if its under the drivers seat, then I cant see it. I have spent hours on this but am determined now to get this cruise working. Any advice please ?
