Has anybody thought about a rooftent but been put off by the cost of the branded ones?
It is a huge outlay for tent and roofrack when you dont know if it will suite your needs.
We thought long and hard before takng the plunge and buying a Howling Moon tourer, learning the good and bad points of using it the hard(re-expensive)way.
Had we been able to try before buying or been able to hire one for a week or so we might have saved a lot of cash.
And that is the point of this thread-to see if there is any demand for the hiring out of rooftents, with or without a rack.
This might not get off the ground but any feedback on the subject will be appreciated.
Thanks for taking time to read this.

Do a search, there is plenty debate on this forum.

You can't really take a rooftent laning unless you are willing to break it, but for expeditions they rock.

I have now changed my previous viewpoint that the cheap rooftents are a good idea, having owned a cheap one, I now say get a Hannibal or sleep on the floor like everyone else :D
