Hi all,

Been trying to get hold of a roof rack and bars for my freelander 1 (3 door), but they always seem so expensive when you consider the age and use?

Been looking at eBay, where most are up for sale buy it now around 80-100 for the rack alone???

Should I be looking elsewhere or is this the going rate?

Many thanks.

James

The genuine rack for the 3 door is over £400 new, £100 is around about the going rate for a non LR rack

The bars can be had for 15-20 quid

Thanks for your reply, is that price as new though or second hand?

The ones I have been looking at are £80-100, second hand and over 8 yr old.

Just have no clue what I should be paying and don't want to be robbed. Lol

New price for a genuine LR rack is over £400

Post a link to what you're looking at and people will give you their (brutally) honest opinion

Between £80-£100 is about right for second hand. I have been looking for a set on ebay for ages and cannot remember seeing any that sell cheaply.
Most seem to need a bit of tlc which I suppose is understandable given the exposure they get.

Have a look at the Freelanders being broken on ebay - Quite often a breakers yard will give you a better chance of a purchase, rather than bidding against others on line??

Give my mate Matt a call on 07538240684. He breaks Freelanders and I guarantee he'll be cheaper than Ebay if he has some in stock.

last year they were fetching 170 on ebay 2nd hand if you had all the covers i no coz i wanted some until i got some in scrappers for £60 coz he didn't have a clue lol

£60 was the most id thought I would pay for a set but seems unlikely!

come spring they will prop be sort after item again because of people wanting them for summer get them now cheap if you can i almost bought a 2nd set from scrappers while i was there because i new what they were selling for lol

My old roof bars were about £30 new as they were universal. Then I built my fairly complex custom roof rack which set me back about £140 after powder coating. If I hadn't put as much plate on it and painted it myself it would have probably cost me about £50.
