Roof rack

Hi I’m looking to get some roof bars for my freelander 2, I want to know if I can get one that just attaches straight to the roof rather than needing the land rover rails first? I’m struggling to find any guidance via google. I want to put bars and then a Ali basket rack ontop but don’t want it being too high

I believe you need the factory rails first. Then attach the rack or cross bars to those.

I think the FL2 looks better without the rails myself, but having a roof rack would be handy sometimes, although getting bikes up there would be a challenge.

Took a while to get used to my roof rails being fitted.

The lr option is to have the roof rails fitted. Then fit the cross bars to them. Pick the roof rails for 'with' sunroof or 'without' sunroof.

The alternative is cross bars only from aftermarket suppliers like thule. I have seen them used on other FL2's but not used them myself as I have the genuine lr rails/cross bars.

Probably other aftermarket suppliers available anorl. Avoid anything cheap and nasty or you may get an insurance claim oft the vehicle following you.
