rolling restoration?

Considering smartening up my landy...

i need to do it in chunks but keep using the landy,

what is the bare minimum i should do at the same time as a Galvanised chassis swap to start the project.

or should i do both axles as a chunk, then body, then bulkhead, so its all ready for the new chassis?

any thoughts, my over all aim is to have a smart looking lady that is reasonably reliable.

the least id do when fitting a galv chassis is sorting bulkhead, all the rest can be done over a collection of weekends

should i also do Brake lines & Fuel line whilst good access?

yes ,those that run on the chassis and bulkhead if needed,obviously a good time to paint fuel tank and any wiring to front and rear ,new bump stops etc,you will have new bushes in chassis but you dont need to do spring bushes as that can be another weekend etc as can axles ,rear body etc

i doubt you'd be able to get the old break lines off without damaging them. i know i couldn't, you'd almost have to replace during a chassis swap. fuel lines may be ok.

if i was doing a rolling restorations my preferred way if i had the space and the cash would be to get seconds of major things like axles and damaged body panels (rusty door frames etc)
and them refurbish those ready to swap straight on quickly. keeps the car rolling as much as possible, and you can always sell your original parts on for a similar price to the ones you bought.
