thats a fantasic price. Problem comes because we need complete lengths to make the hoops in one complete length to be legal

Forgot to mention CDS has advantages as well weight as before but it can be formed in tighter bends than Blueband but you need a specialist bending machine to stop it crushing.

i know mate it just means if i go down there i need to catch the right bloke or it's full retail. What about propper sleeving of joints? as when i have to on trike frames its always been a 10 inch solid sleeve and then dressed back till its invisible but still incredibly strong.

Thought you was taking about wall thickness, which I then thought you was nuts!
I only use cds(seamless mechanical)in varying gauge depending on application or clubman 500 tube, not a fan of water pipe /blue band/schd 40

CDS tube prices have gone up 50% in the last year which has hit me hard as the margins just arent there in cages and link rods etc

Pressbrake its what your used to I guess but I have seen on 2 occasions 2 different motors one Comp safari racing had an off and was told in no uncertain terms he cannot race again until they replace his front hoop. CDS Deformed. Blueband wouldn't have bent.

Another time CCV drivers hitting a tree really hard on the rear hoop to pull the front end around a tight corner and over a cross axle all 8 motors did it and only one was CDS and only that one bent the main hoop. It bent back almost an inch and a half he was allowed to play till the end of the day but the hoop was to be replaced. for the next comp. After seeing that altough it was a big hit it was common of ccv stuff so I will use Blueband meself.

There is no weight saving unless you run a thin gauge which I wouldnt do.
I have a draw bender which is lovely, what stops you bending it on your pipe bender is the fact that cds is sized on OD not ID and gauge like pipe, hence the name diference of tube and pipe

Most people keep to minimum specs so the wall thickness is less than Blueband. it was like 30% weight saving on a comp motor that was a free weight saving was great. CCV stuff need to be tough tho.

Many kit car people swear by CDS and to a point I agree. most of them do not underatsnd landies. If you use the thicker stuff then great it should take more of a beating. Most cages you buy are the thinnest and only meet minimum specs to keep the initial cost down for materials. I never considered a CDS because I cannot make it myself.

The problem is the fact that cds(cold drawn so less easy to bend)is available in any gauge which is a problem as nearly every cage ive seen in cds has been out of 2.6mm which just isnt enough , and thats where pipe has its advantages is that cant happen as you cant buy it that thin!

this is the last frame i made for a supra trike ,not bad for a clarke 10ton tube bender so i think i might have a go at a cage.

Looks good but the all hoops and individual stays must be made in one piece lengths and not sections welded together to conform and be comp legal

I'm not a fan of Trike I'll be honest seen too many jelly moulds all the same in Germany and in the UK slight variants of the same thing but I like the one you posted!!

i know what you mean and too many bloody vw jobbies as they're easy to do but i prefer a challenge,i'm considering junking the supra lump and shortening the frame if i can get a ford v6 or rover v8 though.

Do they have to conform to the mentioned standards just for road/green lane use? I will never compete but just would like piece of mind! Don't trust my bulkhead!

no ned to conform to owt but i wouldn' bolt any abortion to my mota it would have to be legal for me to go to the effort of fitting one
