Rock sliders

Hi all, excuse my ignorance. I am slowly renovating my 90 tdi hardtop.

The sills are pretty rusty, but still solid. I have been looking through this forum, and have seen a lot of mention of "rock sliders".

Qu: what are they? Do they replace existing sills?

What would they cost? Thanks.

replace cill with box section metal which is fairly indestructable. various different types are available, some with sticky out bit, some without. you can jack off them as well which is handy. about £80 off ebay

just read it again i think we are talking about different cills! the ones i'm thinking of can't rust!

thanks, are they easy to fit? Need welding on?

bolt on. go look on ebay to see what they look like. there will be a step by step fitting guide somewhere if you google it too
