Just ordered my Rock Sliders (from Ian @ Rock Sliders :D), and since they attach to the sill also, was thinking of rivnut instead of bolts.

Only problem is I haven't got a rivnut tool, nor used one before, so not sure what is good or bad - as they are on fleabay for around £13 - 4mm-8mm THREADED RIVET NUT INSERT SETTING TOOL RIVNUT | eBay

So are these any good, or has anyone got one that can recommend a certain type and place to buy, as I am sure I will be using it again ;)

ive got a cheap one and it works okay ,grease bolts when fitting to help with undoing if ever needed

I agree, cheep ones are ok, I got a £13 form a local fastner supplier with a lifetime garantee, if you break it take it back and get a new one, omly had one problem and thats the threads on the anill type bit thats pulls the rivnut up has striped last time I used it om the M3, so next time I go get some screws that will go back and I'll get a new one...:D:D

BTW thats one one i have as well

Rivnuts on the tree sliders will just pull straight out.... do you know how I know????

Either that or you will be forever having to adjust them as your doors won't open when you go over a ridge!

Best way is to weld in tubes inside the cills so that the cills crush onto them but who can be bothered with that? buy a long drill bit park on level ground check with spirit level and if you have a dill with a spirit level on as a lot do these days, hold level and drill all the way through and jiggle it a bit when fitting.

nah, they fasten to the chasis as well, but if I am fitting them to the sills, just wanted to know which way was best - coach bolt em, or rivnut.

Stick bolts through. I weld tubes through the sill so they don't crush and then they have a good amount of substance to them as such.

The chassis mounts tend to bend up then jam the door shut. As it moves upwards, it rips the rivnuts out making a right mess!!
