Can anyone explain what the changes to the road fund license are going to maek?
I currently have a 98 discovery. I know that I am paying £180 odd and that as a pre 2001 model that this wont change, however its getting a bit tired snd I am thinking about buying a post 2001 110, either a crew cab or full hard top. I can't afford a new one (I'd rather let someone else take the depreciation hit anyway) but can't get a straight answer out of any one 'official' as to what the road tax implications are for either model after April 2009.
Can anyone help.

Cheers

if you buy the crew cab, or the hard top (van) version, it's classed as a commercial and taxed as light goods vehicle. so you pay a flat rate (at the mo £185) irrespective of the engine

With all that is happening in the country/world at the moment with the credit crunch I read yesterday that GORDON is looking at reducing all sorts of tax and the new road tax rules are one possibility that may be looked at.
Fingers crossed
