Of all the places my old Rangie may have fallen prey to the nation's latest outbreak of Road Rage, the tiny Norfolk seaside town of Cromer wasn't the highest on my list.....

A caravan towed by middle-aged Mondeo Man took exception today to my daring to signal and hold him up for a moment while parking in the town, and raced past while I was reversing into the parking place, swerving in towards the Rangie in a really dangerous manoever.

It took my driver's side wing mirror out, luckily nothing else. Then sped off without stopping, at high speed. Yes, I did get the registration. And yes, I will report it to the police, but the local constabulary office was not open today. I thought one was obliged to stop at the scene of an accident if it involved you, on a public road.

More to the point, the caravan, being wider than the Mondeo towing it, hit my wing mirror and smashed a chunk out of it. I did retrieve the bits later and cobbled them together, but am now seeking a driver's side wing mirror, if anyone knows of a Rangie breaking for parts please let me know :(:(

My Rangie is black, 1999 Vogue Special Ed. 4.6

Re the veh that Failed to stop! FTS Its an Offence to stop at the scene of a Road Traffic Collusion, RTC . When you report this ensure you give the best description of the driver! That way hd can't deny driving it.. Also include full description of the car and caravan, take all your driving documents with you to the police station... With luck he can be sumons for FTS at a RTC, poss get 6 points.. All being well.. Also describe the noise & what happened to the part of the veh that hit you..ie.. Loud band and the caravan shook, swerved,, all good , that way the driver cant deny hearing crashing noises and failing to observe his carvan , jolted etc.. Sorry no advice on the part lol. P

i'd have followed him and beat the fcuk out of him!!! and then called the police saying he assaulted me!!!

and i'd have **** in his caravan!!!

i would have a look on fleebay or scrappies and get the mirror painted, shouldnt cost much, or you could glue/fill it, rub it down well and then spray it with a can, make sure you flat it off after each coat and plenty of laquer

evening gav,u ok matey,i have sent RG a pm over her mirror, joe in colne is breaking a black p38.i have given RG all his details.;)

Thanks guysl, I thought it was an offence to fail to stop and it was very deliberate so the caravan driver knew exactly what had happened and sped off accelerating afterwards. Was lucky I had the presence of mind to get the licence number as it raced off. Will try to source a part from breakers and repair this one as best as I can till then. Thanks for the breakers info John. Will report to police tomorrow.

someone did this to me- by the time the court had dealt with them it cost them £800 and 8 points for a wing mirror.(framed the letter)
Bonus their insurance was also cancelled-sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet revenge

Did you get the Reg for the Caravan or car? You may find the fecker has an old/different Reg on the caravan....hopefully not though :)

I think this matter will come to nothing unfortunately. I doubt you have sufficient proof you are the innocent party.

**** happens.

Don't let it spoil too much of your time, thoughts and energy.

In Torquay today John, nice sunny day. Just having a few cocktails before a short kip then back to Walsall tomorrow morning for a BECM unlock around lunchtime.
Nice to know someones missing me !!!!:violin:

Simon1975, "innocence" or "guilt" is totally irrelevant as far as this matter is concerned, according to the police, who have now taken statements - the other driver Failed To Stop at the scene of an accident - this is a statutory offence under the Road Traffic Act, and one which the police like as it raises their "solved / detected" crime stats nicely. It has no bearing on the matter as to whether the other driver was irritated by having to wait for me to park or not - fact is, he overtook me while I was parking - a rather dodgy and stupid manoever in a narrow little seaside town single lane road anyhow, and collided with my car in so doing, then failed to stop to exchange details or see if there were any injuries, after the accident. "Proving innocence" is really totally irrelevant, he simply failed to stop as required by law. End of.

The damage to the car is really to the outer mirror housing - I retrieved the bits from the road and glued them together so everything is working as it should again, but ideally would like to source an undamaged housing which Gemsdad is helping with at present.
